End Citizens United
Mission: To “counter the disastrous effects of Citizens United and reform our campaign finance system. To show elected officials, candidates, voters, and the press that the grassroots are fighting back with force against the increasing brazenness of billionaires trying to buy our elections.”
End Citizens United is a PAC working to counteract the effects of, and eventually overturn, Citizens United. It advocates for donor disclosure in campaign finance and promotes the idea that corporations should not have the same rights as people. End Citizens United supports the movement for a constitutional amendment that would reverse the Supreme Court’s decision in Citizens United, as well as in related cases, and that would put campaign financing regulatory power back in the hands of Congress and the states. It also advocates for the selection of Supreme Court justices who would issue and concur with pro-reform decisions as new opportunities arise.

Current Democracy Work
End Citizens United focuses on electing members of Congress who will commit to overturning Citizens United. For example, it recently endorsed Iowa Democrat Patty Judge for U.S. Senate and announced that it would air ads in support of pro-reform candidates Maggie Hassan, Catherine Cortez Masto, and Emily Cain. It has also mobilized its members to contact their representatives in Congress to support critical reform legislation and to support action on Judge Merrick Garland, the President’s nominee to the Supreme Court.
Recent Successes
In response to her recent endorsement by End Citizens United, Hillary Clinton expressed her gratitude: “I am honored to have earned the endorsement of the End Citizens United PAC, an organization working tirelessly to fix our broken campaign finance system and restore control of our elections to the American people.” End Citizens United also tracks illicit campaign funds and takes action. For instance, it exposed a “ghost corporation” illegally established to funnel anonymous money into elections and registered a complaint with the Federal Elections Commission (FEC). It also filed an FEC complaint against Michigan candidate Tom Casperson for illegal use of state funds for his federal campaign.
