Current Democracy Work

With a focus on education, massive online engagement, and creative storytelling, The Other 98% organizes to get money out of politics with a petition campaign and attention-grabbing direct action to overturn Citizens United. In addition to specific issue campaigns, it educates citizens about how to eliminate dark money in politics, create political accountability, and more.

Recent Successes

More than 51,000 Americans have signed their petition to amend the Constitution to make clear that corporations do not have the rights of natural persons and money does not equal speech. In late 2015, The Other 98% launched Whistleblow Wall Street, a website campaign where any bank employee can safely and anonymously report malfeasance at work. The campaign launched with a billboard in NYC’s financial district, gaining immediate media attention.
