Women grow much of the world's food
“Globally, women account for nearly half – 43 percent– of the world’s farmers, although their contribution to the agricultural labour force can be much higher– more than 60 percent in some countries. Women grow or raise much of the world’s food. They could be doing much more, if they had access to needed resources and had a voice in the decisions that have an impact on their lives and the lives of their families” page 4

This is a good quote, but it is from 1996 – way too old: “ON A GLOBAL SCALE, women produce more than half of all the food that is grown”.
