Important links between women, hunger, and education

“Of the explanatory variables that represent the underlying determinants, women’s education is found to have the strongest impact on child malnutrition.” [page xi]

“As a result of the strong influence of women’s education and the substantial progress made in increasing it, women’s education is estimated to be responsible for almost 43 per cent of the total reduction in child malnutrition that took place from 1970 to 1995. Improvements in per capita food availability have contributed about 26 percent to the reduction, health environment improvements 19 per cent.” [page xii]
