41 percent of grain picked by the states from federal warehouses in India reaches homes
"Just 41.4 percent of the grain picked up by the states from federal warehouses reaches Indian homes, according to a recent World Bank study." This is due to corruption in the system, as all parties along the production and distribution chain steal food and make greater profits by selling it illicitly to traders. Because of this, it does not reach poor Indians relying on ration cards for their food.
