'Some of those initiatives by retailers are meant to help consumers feel more confident about their food choices. Consumer research by the Food Marketing Institute shows 33% of consumers think the U.S. food system is heading in the right direction while 58% think it is the wrong direction. '... They also trust grocers on food safety -- 90% trust the grocers, compared to 80% trusting USDA and 78% trusting the FDA."
