Coop Banks hold 21% of all deposits in Europe
In remarks made in 2010 to the Organization for Economic Development and Cooperation, he told of the surprising size of the cooperative banking sector, which in Europe holds 21 percent of all deposits. In the Netherlands, the enormous Rabobank held 43 percent of all the country’s deposits. Yet cooperative banks remain the “submerged part of the banking world,” Bancel said.
