Since 1996, the widespread farming of GE crops in the United States has increased the use of chemical poisons on corn, soybean, and cotton fields by about 50 million pounds. A massive increase in the use of herbicides on GE herbicide-tolerant crops has offset a small decrease in the use of insecticides.
