US solidified its position as the world's biggest arms dealer" - US contractors sold nearly $11.8 billion in weapons in 1999. - 2/3 of all arms were sold to developing nations. - 2001 arms industry received $7.5 billion in federal support. - In the past decade, arms dealers have poured $59 billion into federal campaigns. - In 2000, Congress passed bill to give $300 million in tax breaks to US arms importers in addition to the $7.5 billion they already receive.
