Could trains be a more efficient way to transport oil?

Since 1980, trains get eighty percent more miles to the diesel gallon and in comparison to trucks, the EPA says trains emit 75% less GHGs over long distances. They also get eighty percent more miles per diesel gallon compared to thirty years ago. Since the infrastructure is already established, locomotives could be a more environmentally-friendly, safe way to ship oil from Canada.
