Petitioners try to oust former Monsanto VP Michael Taylor from the FDA after 2 year term

Petitioners try to oust former Monsanto VP Michael Taylor from the FDA after his 2-year term as a senior advisor. He was appointed by Obama in 2009..MICHAEL TAYLOR“Taylor’s position, which is currently deputy commissioner for foods at the FDA, includes ensuring that food labels contain clear and accurate information, overseeing strategy for food safety and planning new food safety legislation. He is the first individual to hold the position. Before he joined the FDA, Taylor was the vice president for Public Policy at Monsanto from 1998 to 2001. He has since worked for the FDA in a number of capacities, most recently returning to the administration as senior adviser to the commissioner in July 2009.”.The press release (linked to below) announcing his appointment made no mention of his previous work at Monsanto..The signers state that his ties to Monsanto in the FDA threaten the wellbeing of farmers, plants and animals. (Petition reads: "fox watching the henhouse"). The petition cites a study on Morgellons Disease, which may be linked to GMOs. (see link below). Specifically, the petition cites Taylor's role in Monsanto's now-discredited GM bovine growth hormone (rBGH). He pushed a policy that would prevent milk from rBGH-treated cows from being labeled with disclosures.Source: Elizabeth Flock, "Monsanto petition tells Obama: ‘Cease FDA ties to Monsanto’," The Washington Post, Jan. 30, 2012. http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/blogpost/post/monsanto-petition-tell.....FDA Press Release about Taylor appointment: http://www.fda.gov/NewsEvents/Newsroom/PressAnnouncements/ucm170842.htmPetition against Taylor at FDA: http://signon.org/sign/tell-obama-to-cease-fda.fb1?source=s.fb&r_by=2105328Morgellons Disease: http://www.naturalnews.com/023004.html
