During the 2015/16 election cycle, .53% of the population made up 67.8% of the total campaign contriutions. In fact, only 1/10th of the total voting-age population in the US contributed more than $2,700 to any campaigns. This is based on data released by the Federal Election Commission on November 27, 2017.
